From Awareness to Action: Why I Joined Rabies Global Support — Avneet Gill

Hi, my name is Avneet Gill, and I’m a high school student who recently became involved with Rabies Global Support. Before joining, I honestly didn’t know much about rabies or the global impact it has. I always knew rabies was a serious disease, but I didn’t realize how preventable it is or how many communities around the world still don’t have easy access to the education, vaccines, and resources needed to prevent it. Learning about this completely changed the way I looked at rabies and made me realize that it’s a much bigger issue than I originally thought.

Being exposed to this issue has helped me understand how important medical education and awareness really are. I’ve learned that prevention isn’t only about having access to vaccines or medical care. People also need to know how rabies spreads, how to protect themselves, and what steps to take if they are exposed. Having the right information at the right time can make a huge difference, especially when something as serious as rabies is involved.

I joined Rabies Global Support because I believe that sharing knowledge and spreading awareness can genuinely help save lives. I want to help make information about rabies easier for people to understand and encourage others to take prevention seriously. I also think that raising awareness can help people realize that rabies is still a global issue and that access to prevention should not depend on where someone lives.

As a high school student, I’m really grateful to have the opportunity to be involved in something that has an impact beyond just my own community. I want to use my time and skills to help educate others, spread awareness, and contribute to making rabies prevention more accessible. Being part of Rabies Global Support has not only taught me more about rabies but has also shown me how even small efforts to educate others can contribute to a much bigger change.
