From a Question to Publication: My Research on Rabies Therapeutics

I’m incredibly excited to share that my research, An Exploratory In Silico Evaluation of Transferrin Receptor and Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor Targeting Strategies for Post-Symptomatic Human Rabies, has been published in the American Journal of Student Research. This project began with a question that deeply interested me: could we explore new ways of treating rabies even after symptoms have appeared? Using computational methods, I investigated a dual-target approach involving the transferrin receptor (TfR1) and nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR), exploring potential strategies for reaching the brain and interfering with rabies virus interactions. There is much research required before ideas can become treatments, but having the opportunity to investigate this question—and now to see that work published—has made me even more excited to continue exploring rabies, neuroscience, and medicine!
